December 2014 Favourites

Finally, Sephora has landed on Australian shores and with that I was able to put my mits onto some products I have been dying to try. Some of these have also crept into my December favourites.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Perfume

An Australian Sephora exclusive, created by the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Perfume is just the epitome of feminine sexiness with a hint of edginess. It is floral and fresh with notes of peony, muguet (which I think is another type of Lily), and musk. It just screams modern femininity. The packaging is a textured white case with gold trimming, simply stunning.

Bossypants – Tina Fey

Bossypants by Tina Fey is hilarious, light-hearted, very easy to read and really enjoyable. If you are looking for a fun book to take on a holiday, this is it. In amongst the anecdotes, Tina offers up tales of her experiences growing up and breaking into the comedy, writing & television industry, coupled with some great advice too. Although choppy at times, still a great read. Final words – this book is somewhere in between a memoir, a Saturday Night Live skit stirred with life and work lessons.

Marc Jacobs Kiss Pop Colour Stick – Pow 600

This has to be the absolute cutest packaging for a lip product that I have ever seen. I simply can’t stop staring at it. The shiny chrome tube has a pop of colour representing the colour of the lipstick inside. Fun and playful, this product looks like old-school crayons. Admittedly, the lipstick product itself hasn’t wowed me – matte & opaque in texture with a sweet baby-pink shade, I thought this would be the matte lipstick for me. Even though I found it to be long-wearing, the downsides of the product are that it emphasises lip lines for those with textured lips and after a little while lips can get a little dry from the matte texture so I would recommend to combined this with a lip balm. Available only in Sephora if you are in Australia.

Anastasia Brow Wiz – Soft Brown

I picked up the soft brown shade as I am not a fan of super strong brows and just wanted something to perfect the shape without overpowering. Now I can finally understand why this is a cult product for the brows. The nib is incredibly small, excellent for pencilling in small hairs. The pencil also features a spoolie on the other end, which is really stiff – haha, “That’s what she said!” Ok, ok… mind out of the gutter. The stiff spoolie helps to perfect the brow shape & also blend the pencil with your natural brows. Great Find! Another Sephora fave!

Tarte – 4-in-1 Lights Camera Lashes Mascara

December has proven that I am simply a sucker for packaging. The pack of this mascara is unlike any other, with a dark plum coloured snake-print sleeve featuring gold writing. This has a very luxe-feeling packaging. The product itself has a lovely formula, incredibly black colour which applies seamlessly with only one coat and is also buildable, if need be. Tarte is a brand I have been dying to try and luckily Sephora brought this to Australia.

Eve Pearl Smudgeproof Liquid Eyeliner – Black Pearl

It is no surprise that this eye liner is being featured in my December favourites as this product hasn’t left my lids this entire month. A whole post has been dedicated to this little gem – see link below. Available from Amazon.

Nars Lipgloss – Priscilla

Perfect lips for the party season, giving a statement lip without being over the top. The bright pink is blue-toned and perfect for the paler lady, but would also suit olive skin toned gals just as easily. Semi sheer, easy to apply, long lasting and creamy and last but not least, this product has no aromas. This lipgloss gets 5 stars from me.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (shade #4)

This is just hands down the absolute best of the best of the best foundations out there. Gorgeous luminous finish as the name suggests without being shimmery, beautiful shades, quality packaging and quality product. Not much else to say except for…. perfection!

By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow –  Bronze Moon

An incredibly pricey eyeshadow stick but totally worth it. Delivers opaque shimmer that is easy to blend. Bronze Moon is a bronze shimmer shade which is actually quite versatile. It can be used as a light colour wash over the eyelid or built up to a dramatic smokey eye. It sets in a long-wearing shimmer finish that catches light beautifully without looking like a disco ball. The stick format is easy to throw in your handbag for touch-ups, although no touch-ups are ever needed. All the shades in this range are gorgeous and are on my wishlist for 2015.

Wishing you all a happy festivus season!

Alice
